I am at an intense, week-long auctioneering school in Minnesota this week. It has been interesting, since my only interests are for general professional development as a speaker/trainer plus to learn how to "chant" as an auctioneer so as to be able to do charity events.
Every year I choose something to do for my professional development - I encourage others to do so as well. Whatever I choose, it has to be in line with my personal/professional misison and vision, plus it must be fun. Hence, auctioneering school in 2004!
Some things floating around my brain that I've heard so far:
If you don't quit, you can't fail.
The single most important factor in leadership is communication.
Tell yourself what you WANT, not what you don't want - move in the direction of the positive.
Internalize your goals - have what you want clearly in mind.
Visualize + Internalize = Realize
(must have been the good Dennis Waitlely DVD we saw...)
Not bad for a group focused on talking!!
