Mentoring Others

Part of being a good coach within a sales team is knowing some basic skills in communication and in mentoring. I found a checklist from Peer Resources that you can check out to see if you do some of these things already, or if not, to help you identify what traits a good peer mentor or lead mentor has.

An issue I hear a lot of the time is that sales managers don't have time to mentor, coach, or give good feedback because they are busy attending meetings. If this is the case for you, I'd evaluate how you spend your time and think about the huge payoffs available with some good direct coaching and feedback sessions on a regular basis. And not just any coaching - the right stuff. More for later.
