I am fortunate to know best-selling author and “Father of Contact Marketing” Stu Heinecke. I met him when he was writing his first book, “How to Get a Meeting with Anyone” as I was asked to and was able to share one of my own strategies for getting my foot in a prospect’s door.
In addition to being a fantastic business writer and speaker on getting in front of buying teams through creative ways, Stu Heinecke is also a freelance cartoonist with cartoons appearing in the Wall Street Journal. Now Stu is becoming known as the inventor of the Weed Strategy™ model for explosive business growth, where he is bringing everything from his marketing background together with sound business growth principles in How to Grow Your Business Like a Weed: A Complete Strategy for Unstoppable Growth.
This latest book of Stu’s is so amazing – it is ALMOST overwhelming. Note I said ALMOST, because it is not too much but it is A LOT.
The W.E.E.D.S. Model is what Stu uses to describe 8 different strategies for business growth. I have personally used each of the strategies, but Stu gives so many examples and shares such great stories that I realize I’ve only touched the surface of each of the eight. I am going to put these more into place in the new year:
At the end of each of the strategy chapters, there are questions to ponder. These questions can serve as topics for your sales team, or leadership offsite when it comes to your company’s ongoing, consistent growth.
Stu describes weeds as having a “brilliant mindset that makes them consistent winners. They are optimistic, persistent, adaptive, aggressive, urgent, and resilient, which makes them naturally disruptive, but also nimbly fluid when they themselves are disrupted. Their aggressive mindset blends perfectly with defensive strategies to ferociously defend every shred of turf they claim.”
If only some of us were more like weeds when it comes to focus and dedication in growing our business – whether a sales territory or a Fortune 100 company.
In our uncertain economy today, I suggest we “double down” on growth stories and strategies like the ones inside “How to Grow Your Business Like a Weed”
I am sure that if you read Stu’s book you will be more energized and creative than ever before. If you do, please share what you liked most about it.
